This is a surprisingly good chuck. When I got it, the first thing I did was disassemble and clean it. There were no chips or grinding grit, but the oil was dirty (gritty?). The only thing this thing needs is about an hour of deburring, every edge was sharp. Using a 1 x 4" dowel pin, I was getting less than .002" runout, both at the chuck and 2-1/2" away. Perhaps not as smooth as the high-dollar chucks, but well worth the price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24qdKJmxrks

I am an amateur, home shop machinist. I bought this chuck with the back plate and shipping included for less than $125.00, an outstanding value IMHO. The two-piece jaw configuration was a requirement and the source of some problems that may or may not affect your decision to purchase this chuck. If you purchase this chuck, be prepared to disassemble it and thoroughly clean and lubricate it. This one was FILTHY, but I expected it would be. After cleaning, a precision 0.5000 pin ran within 0.0020" TIR. , well within spec. I trued the back plate mounted on my lathe spindle (70-year-old South Bend 9-A) and turned the register boss to 0.0050" smaller than the register recess in the chuck body. The test pin repeats within 0.00050 after assembly and adjustment. Amazing IMHO! I removed the top jaws and cleaned the interfaces with the jaw base. Upon reassembly, I could not get the chuck adjusted any better than 0.015" TIR. I reground the key slot so the top jaws would actually seat properly. I will regrind the jaw faces under clamping load with a tool post grinder when I get time. In the meantime, I'm using machinable steel top jaws to hold some 2" diameter steel discs for turning, facing and boring on both faces. The chuck repeats within 0.00050" TIR with this configuration. Again, amazing. I would purchase this item again but only if I had time to do the aforementioned rework.

This chuck was stiff on arrival from leftover machining dust. I disassembled it (easy to do), cleaned all the parts, and reassembled with super lube. The unit is now nice and smooth. Accuracy with a 1/2 in pin gauge chucked is around .001", which is in the same ballpark as the lathe spindle (12x35 Grizzly), so hard to fault the chuck for this application. It was best at one location, so I put timing marks on that position. The unit has a nice range with bolt-on reversible jaws, so very handy for grabbing tubing or other hollow objects.

Very good tool, runout was only .002 thousandth installed out of box. Very good for what I use it for. Neighbor bought a 4 inch to expand centrifugal clutches , I had to machine jaws thinner for unique tool use. The 4 inch was so nice it caught my attention so I ordered a 6 inch to put on one of my small lathes.

Premium HT300 Cast Iron Build with Outstanding Hardness

The VEVOR 6 jaw lathe chuck is designed using high-quality cast iron, specifically HT300, which is renowned in the market for its toughness and longevity. The scroll plate is quenched and hardened, and the hardness of the jaws is at least 53 HRC. The scroll plate has a hardness of at least 45 HRC. The chuck is wear-resistant, pressure-resistant, and rust-resistant. Even when heavily used, it lasts for many years.

To machinists, the high level of hardness is a guarantee for clamping tough metals or working long hours. The chuck is resistant to deformation and overall damage that can occur during repeated use, making it wear-resistant, pressure-resistant, and rust-resistant. The VEVOR 6-jaw lathe chuck offers dependable performance for both woodturning and metalworking, as well as precise drilling tasks.

VEVOR 6 Jaw Lathe Chuck with Self-Centering Function for Precise and Hassle-Free Clamping

The in-built self-centering property saves time by removing redundant calibration. Following the fixation of the workpiece, the jaws automatically reposition it to provide clean, balanced, and precise cuts every time.

Self-centering provides a distinct advantage for intricate or repetitive projects. Machinists and hobbyists maintain accuracy without repeatedly repositioning, which enhances the workflow. The VEVOR lathe chuck offers a steady performance in terms of accuracy and stability, whether in shaping, milling, or boring. The characteristic reduces material wastage and enhances the surface finish. It is also more productive as it allows users to focus on the creation process instead of doing it manually.

VEVOR 6 Jaw Lathe Chuck with Wide 0.12 to 5.71 Inch Clamping Range

The 6-inch (160 mm) chuck is capable of covering a great clamping area and can be used with parts of any size. Its inner diameter is 1.57 in (40 mm), and its outer diameter is 6 in (160 mm). It can hold workpieces between 0.12 and 5.71 in (3 and 145 mm) in diameter. This flexibility allows working on small, medium, or large parts without requiring a different tool.

For machinists, the large clamping range implies that a single chuck can be used in various ways. The lathe chuck can be easily adjusted to fine jewelry work or larger industrial components. It is an effective way to reduce tool changes and spend more time working.

Stable Connection with Secure D1-4 Cam Lock Adapter

The D1-4 cam lock adapter provides a secure and quick connection to your lathe. This design minimizes vibration, allowing your workpiece to remain still even at high speeds. A constant connection is needed to ensure the accuracy of cuts and reduce mistakes. A secure connection also extends the service life of both the chuck and the lathe by reducing wear from vibration.

The cam lock system is easy to mount and dismount the chuck. Machinists can quickly lock or unlock the chuck and begin working, rather than waiting due to slow setups. The VEVOR 6 jaw lathe chuck has become a good option for both professionals and beginners.

Simple Design and T-Wrench for Easy Operation

One of the important characteristics of this chuck is ease of use. Its small size is a balance between functionality and trustworthiness. A T-shaped wrench is also provided, making installation easy. It only requires following the proper order, and the chuck can be installed in minutes. This makes the chuck practical for everyday use, whether in a busy workshop or for occasional projects at home.

It features an easy-to-use design that is both professional and user-friendly. It can be installed with minimal knowledge or tools, even by those new to lathes. Experienced machinists appreciate the saved time and the avoidance of complicated setups.

Broad-based Applications on Metalworking, Drilling, and Milling Projects

The VEVOR 6 jaw lathe chuck can perform various operations, including metalworking, drilling, milling, and even woodturning. Its firm grip and self-centering capabilities make it suitable for both heavy-duty applications and small detail tasks. Durable, it can be used in both the workshop and the garage at home.

This flexibility maximizes your investment. A single tool replaces multiple chucks and performs all the tasks. Whether you're an industrial machinist working with industrial parts or a DIY crafter creating custom pieces, the 6-jaw chuck is adjustable to meet your requirements. Its adaptability ensures you always have the right tool on hand without needing to swap equipment constantly.

Consistent and Accurate Results

All machinists appreciate consistency, and the lathe chuck features a powerful grip, a large clamping distance, and self-centering ability, ensuring precise cuts and shapes. The performance is further enhanced by the cast iron body, which is made durable, reducing misalignment and wear.

To professionals, it implies fewer errors and increased efficiency. To hobbyists, it translates to professional-quality results without the need for elaborate equipment. Your projects are in safe hands with the VEVOR 6 jaw lathe chuck, which ensures workpieces are both secure and accurately shaped. It delivers the reliability and precision that every machinist needs to achieve flawless outcomes.
