I purchased this track torch to cut 1.25 inch A36 steel plate with oxyacetylene and it worked great. It made quick work of that plate and i'm confident I can use it on thicker plates in the future. Minus 1 star because I had to find a separate cutting tip for it, but once that was sorted the tool did exactly what I needed. Would recommend if you occasionally have to make straight cuts in thick steel.
