The truth is that all thermal printers can not print any color images, because this kind of printer is using direct thermal technology. It prints with heat, there is why you can not touch the printing head immediately after printing, the printing head would be very hot.

Vevor is compatible with most direct thermal labels.The supported label width is from 4cm (1.57") to 11cm (4.3").

The most likely reason is that Vevor is connected to a new USB Port. Windows will register Vevor as a "new" printer whenever the USB port changes.
