The pulley system works well but overall I did not like this product and returned it. I did not like the poles, it was wobbly. Please keep in mind I have a lawn care business and cannot use items that a normal homeowner would.

It's a double pully, the pully seems to be a very hard plastic, the housing and arm are metal.
I've not had any problems with rope slipping off pully.

It doesn't have a pulley,or rope the way the blade is made, when you get it positioned were you want to cut you give it one good pull down and it bites into the wood really well the front of the blade keeps it hooked into the limb,

The pulleys are some type of plastic or polymer. I have had some issue with the rope getting off track or tangled in the branches but I'm sure anyone with half a brain would expect these types of things.
