I really like this cooler! It does not do much in my garage right now, but with a little help from cold water and some ice, it blows cold air on me while I am at my workbench, and it does it very well. The fan is amazing! Even on setting 1, it blows stuff off my workbench.
The water pump is fairly quiet and so is the fan. And I am impressed so far with its operation.
The electronics are great, more than I expected for what it does. I have not used the remote control yet, but if it is as solid as this cooling unit, I'm sure it works well.
I will add to my review after I get a chance to use it when it is not so hot and humid in my Arizona desert home (garage). I plan to put a few embedded systems sensors on it to get the water temp, air temperature, cooling trend of the water because it gets colder with the evap process. I plan to supersize it to use a 2-stage cooling system for the water for next summer, but I will wait until the warranty runs out. =)
It was definitely worth the money. The included ice packs are garbage and do little to help, at least in my use environment. But that's no reason to pass on this unit. And there are plenty of after-market or home use ideas to supplement their use.
I'd buy this again, and probably will. I like the idea of having these in each room during the dry slightly warmer months here, to keep from having to use our central air until it is absolutely necessary!
On a final note, it would be awesome to have SMART HOME wifi control for this unit. When my warranty expires, I plan to add that to our cooler. Just a thought.
