violon VEVOR

needs better bow and rosin needs better bow and rosin
great for beginners
Black No Pattern 4/4 Type
It was a phenomenal purchase given the price of most start out violins, made with real wood, and a good hard case to keep it safe. The bow was no good, the black model I got was messily spray painted black with drips dried in the f holes, and the rosin is just absolutely horrible. For $60 extra I went and got a new beginners bow and professional rosin and was actually able to tune and start playing with everything else provided in this beginner kit. All in all, this was a fantastic purchase and I do recommend trying it for yourself.

Wonderful in the beginning, frustrating after a month
Brown No Pattern 1/4 Type
It's a sturdy, pretty little thing and when I first got it I was entranced by it. It was surprisingly comfortable to hold and for the first week, that's about all your really learning to do. The bow is nice and sturdy and the screw maintains the horse hair very well. I only have to adjust it about once per week. The rosin is frustrating if you don't know what your doing. Take a house key and score the top of it 3 or 4 times before trying to apply it to the horse hair. I didn't know and kept trying to apply it without scoring it and could never really get a good sound. So I'm into week 2 and I'm trying to play Twinkle Little Star. And what sound I can make sounds horrible. So I try adjusting the tune using the supplied tuner. This is where it got frustrating. I didn't know what I was doing so I broke 2 strings quickly. Figured out how to put on the new ones. And kept trying to get them to stay tuned according to the meter. They would hold the tune for a few minutes and then it would be off. I figured, fine I can live with it until I get my tax return and buy a real violin. It's week 4, and I am getting to where I can actually play Twinkle Little Star, but the sound is so bad I just can't do it and so will be financing a high quality instrument.

FYI do your research
Brown No Pattern 1/4 Type
For all future buyers with no experience or knowledge of violins, this needs to be said because many of these instruments have been sent back with nothing wrong with them. Do more research than just reading reviews. Ive seen dozens of reviews complaining about the finish on the neck. The neck normally is not finished, and hasn't been for centuries. The finish can cause your fingers to not slide, causing sour notes due to poor fingering. I've also seen claims of the violin being broken on arrival because the bridge had fallen in transport. The bridge is not fixed to the instrument like on a guitar. String tension holds it to the violin. If the strings are loosened or if the bridge tilts forward, the bridge will fall. It just needs to be set back up between the notches in the f-holes. The tuner has 4 modes on it: guitar, bass, violin, and cello. When tuning the violin for the first time, be certain to set it to violin or you will likely break a string. And finally, the tuning pegs. Unlike a guitar that uses a set of gears in the tuning machines, the tuning pegs on a violin are tapered and held in place solely by friction. When tuning, you must push in when you turn the pegs to seat the taper or they will slip and not retain tension on the string.

Great for the price

My toddler likes to get my violin out, so I decided to redirect him towards a cheap violin he can use himself without me worrying about every bang and crash. We got a 1/16th size, and if he’d let me put it under his chin it would be absolutely perfect. The sound is canned, but what do you expect from what amounts to a $50 violin? With all the add-ons (the case, extra strings, extra bridge, tuner, shoulder rest, and beginner’s book), it may be even less expensive for the violin itself. The pegs do move easily, especially right after shipment, so be sure to push them in before tuning. You can also use some powdered rosin or peg compound. As your violin gets used to your environment, the pegs will slip less and less. I’m actually impressed with how well this cheap violin stays in tune.

Nice Gift for My Granddaughter

Happy with this purchase. This violin is an affordable option for a child to learn on. Unless you know what you're doing, I recommend taking it to someone who can set it up to play... It is not ready to play right out of the box (btw, this item is very well packaged for shipping). That will save you breaking strings.
