Melts snow & ice like promised
I received the HeatTrak snow/ice melting mat just in time for our first big snowfall of the year. As promised it melted the snow/ice quickly. We have a dangerous spot on the sidewalk close to our front door where the sun never hits and the snow slides off the roof. My husband and I are both in our 80's and could no longer keep up with keeping that particular spot clear. I was amazed how quickly it melted the snow that slid off the roof. I am only sorry I didn't know about this product years ago. I was concerned about the price but is much cheaper than an ER visit or a law suit. I highly recommend this product.

They really work!
Have had these for 3 winters now, and love them! I am a widow in her 70's and can not shovel a lot of snow. My daughter and son-in-law gave me them for Christmas in 2019. Last winter, one of them was damaged by someone using a snowblower, so I needed to replace it. My electric bill has not gone up enough to even notice and I keep them plugged in most of the time to ensure my steps and sidewalk is safe!

Crazy expensive, but work well
Crazy expensive, but works well. We get massive drifting of snow and to keep it away from windows and doors these mats do the job. The connectors could be longer and the power supply should come with the mat.

A great Idea for small areas
This is an expensive way to melt ice and snow from a walk but I did not keep mine as I would have had to buy another mat to reach the area that I needed to keep the ice melted. I was also afraid to keep it on all night and wish it had a remote so I wouldn't have to go outdoors.

Why did we not get this sooner?!
This mat is perfect for outside our deck door in Alaska. Even though the snow and ice fall from the roof right in front of the door, this mat is always clear. I wish we had ordered this years ago. It is fabulous!

The only thing that solved a dangerous problem for us!
We live at the bottom of a hill in New England, and the melting run-off and piles from the snow plows can create a really dangerous icy barrier to the main entrance to our house. These are the only things -- and I've tried basically all of them over 20+ years -- that have ever worked. Plus, less salt in your yard and on pet paws. These are warm, not hot, to the touch (I've seen cats lounging on ours), so very safe. They also don't seem to run up the power bill too badly, but I do try to unplug them when they're not needed. They melt snow at a good rate; in a blizzard they may get covered for a while, but they'll melt it off pretty soon. Plus, it's a wonderful luxury not to have to shovel the back walk. These are solidly made, which is why they're not cheap. I'd suggest comparing it to what you pay for salt or ice melt in the winter. If you're somewhere where that's chump change, these probably aren't worth it for you. But in Connecticut, it totally is. Not to mention that snow shoveling is a major cause of heart attacks and back problems, so what's that worth?

VERY GOOD
This has kept every bit of ice and snow off the little porch and ramp for our little dogs. The only problem (and it's not really a problem but for our old dog its an issue) is the water at the bottom of our ramp pools there because of the snow and ice melting off the ramp and then it froze in a big ice patch at the bottom of the ramp. We will add an additional melt pad next year for the bottom of the ramp so the water dissipates off to the sides of the bottom pad. If we didn't have the ramp we wouldn't have the problem. So if you are using it on a ramp you will need to address the bottom of the ramp for the water build up which will freeze on the ground at the bottom of the ramp. We LOVE These and WILL BUY MORE!!!! They are pricy but worth it. THEY WORK VERY WELL.

Lifesaver after freak sleet storm left us buried
This is a great product. We were encased in ice after a freak storm when we ordered it, and my plan was to use it to melt down some of the ice so we could safely get our kids to the car. It worked! Plugged it in in the afternoon, and the next day it had melted the ice down in that area about 4 inches with temperatures in the mid-teens. By the next day it had melted the ice floe down another 4 inches and we were able to salt that and traverse it safely.

Sturdy
Absolutely love this product. My sister had recommended this to me who lives in Colorado and I live in Minnesota so you know we get plenty of ice and snow. When it gets below zero it doesn't keep it entirely clear but the ice is able to be removed easily because it is not frozen solid. The water dripping from the roof evaporates. Living where we do, I can't expect any better. Love it, love it.
