Picked this up for my son who wanted to try his hand at smelting aluminum cans. Product arrived very quickly and well packaged. Assembly was very straight forward and well documented in the instructions. We were fired up in less than 15 minutes. This thing generates some heat! In about an hour my son had almost a pound of aluminum ingots cooling in the ice water bath. Those cans didn't stand a chance. I was a little concerned at the start that we wouldn't have enough propane but with the supplied regulator it was easy to control the propane usage. Overall I would say this is a great kit to get started in forging. Easy to use and well made!

Easy to setup - really easy to use - great furnace!

Great product I’ve wanted to smelt for a long time and I’m glad I got started with this furnace. So far I’ve only done aluminum. I highly recommend safety gear like gloves, face shield, apron, and even good boots and FR clothing I use FR jeans and long sleeves to if the flame jumps I don’t get burned.

As a beginner to the hobby of metal refining and after reading numerous reviews and articles, this is where I landed and I believe it was a great choice! VERY solidly constructed...no flimsy stainless steel outer case. Gas line and regulator are very substantial, high quality. Instructions that come with unit are not the best for a beginner, but some online research got me the answers I needed easily. For example prepping the crucible, exact placement of rubber washers in gas line connection. All in all recommended with five stars!

I am a 10 year full-time blacksmith. After being unsuccessful in melting copper in my forge, I decided to see if this foundry / smelter would out perform it. Sure enough, this thing turns copper into water like consistency. This unit paid for itself the day I bought it, by the new items I was able to create. The design is so simple that you can't fail, as long as you pay attention to the sounds of the furnace and adjust your air intake washer whenever you hear sputtering.

Preface to say, I'm a complete novice. But having an absolute blast!!! My family calls me a "Serial Hobbiest". Just enjoying early retirement. Had been using basic MAPP torch for my silver and gold work. But too often was not able to hit temps needed. Not a problem with this thing, even with just basic propane. Now processing more gold and silver than I can afford.

I love this furnace. It took some trial and error to figure out the propane and air adjustments to get everything going good, but I was surprised at how easy it was to melt. You are not going to be melting steel in this thing, but it's a great way recycle scrap. I am an absolute beginner and got a cool little bar on my first attempt. If this sort of thing interests you, I would recommend giving it a try. I will say that the only instructions were assembly instruction. You pretty much need to figure out how to adjust things yourself. But it's not that hard.

Product arrived quickly and without damage, well packaged. Easy to assemble. First impression with the tongs was disappointment but I found they do work well enough with the crucible given. Also using larger tongs would be difficult given the small amount of clearance between the crucible and insulation. Seems to melt aluminum cans quite quickly even on lower settings. My son is almost excited as I am to start making ingots in real life (minecraft is cool).

I wasn't sure what to expect when I unboxed this product. I had never used one before and thought it might be difficult to start and be comfortable with. Once I assembled the hoses and hooked up the propane tank, it started right up. I had watched a couple of videos before using it to make sure I knew what I was doing but found this crucible so easy, I was able to melt my first object right away. I practiced on a soda can and it was reduced to a little puddle, so I went on to try melting the items I bought it for and it worked perfectly! Thanks for a great product!

Nicely made, good for beginners. Though it seems to be losing heat. Due to where the regulator connects, where the 3 square bolts are screwed into the furnace, and I watched a 5" flame blowing back towards the gas line. that is not a safe design. If the regulator had a small about of insulation wrapped around where it's inserted into the furnace, it would fix the problem with the logs of heat, and the flame escaping the furnace. If you were to chasms the regulator design from a straight pipe, to a 90⁰ angle at the connection of the regulator fits to the furnace would fix the problem of the flame blowing back towards the gas line.
