Clean cuts each time!
I purchased this after reading some of the reviews. I produce training manuals which are between 160 & 220 pages and needed something inexpensive to produce a clean cut. This item fits that bill perfectly. It comes with no setup instructions, but quite frankly it didn't require any. All you need to do is put on the guillotine handle and reverse the clamp arm and you are ready to go.The pull down handle comes with a safety mechanism built in, so once you put it back in the upright position, you won't be able to cut unless you press the safety release. So how does it cut? Clean. And without much effort. There are markings (in 1/16" and mm) on its deck that allow for precise lining up of your material and there is an adjustable thingy which can be firmly set in place at any of these markings. If you search youtube for "stack s12 paper cutter demo" the machine looks exactly like this except for the STACK logo and works in the same fashion with the same minimal effort. One of the other reviewers mentioned this and it was this video that convinced me to purchase. The only issue that I have is that I needed to put some item in-between the clamp and my book so as to not leave clamp marks on the cover. I eventually ended up using a sheet of styrofoam to do the trick.Set aside a 3' x 2' workspace which can take a 40lb weight and lots of arm cranking and you are ready to go!

Great heavy duty paper cutter
This paper cutter is great for graphic designers that need to cut hundreds of invites per week! I did not give it 5 stars though because if you try to cut too many sheets at a time (over 75-100) then it doesn't clamp down as good and and the cut is slightly crooked. Since I want my invites to be close to perfect for my customer, I tend to only cut 50 sheets or less at a time. It still saves tons of time after I have everything lined up though! Great paper cutter overall.

This is great for the price
I have been looking for an affordable stack cutter for a while for some hobby bookbinding. I decided to give this one a try, and I am very pleased. The plastic handle cover was broken when I received it, but I just hot-glued it back on. It works without the handle cover, anyway. Also, like another reviewer said, the blade is a bit greasy, so I would recommend covering your good paper with a piece of junk paper on top before you cut it, just so the junk paper gets the grease stain. It is about 35 pounds, so it is not very portable, but it is light enough that I can tuck it away when I am not using it.I really am happy I bought this.

cutter
The cutter is of excellent quality. Two things are lacking - the grid measurements are metric, with only a minor acknowledgement of "inch", and there is not a useful manual. It would be helpful to have some safety instructions and a diagram of blade replacement. I would like to know know if there are any adjustments for the blade angle. Since I am familiar with large power cutters, it is not a problem for me, but most people need more information.

Paper Cutter
This product delivers. I love the way the paper can be set and aligned to cut with precision. I made around 30 wallet size calendars and needed a machine that can cut many pages at once and this one does what it promises. I would recommend this product 100%.

Excellent for Small Business
I had 1200 30lb. paper sheet to cut into half. After thorough search of cutters I picked this one to fit my need with reasonable price tag. I used it cutting around 150 sheets at a time with no problems. It heavy duty and will last for years. The plastic cover for the blade was cracked. Contacted the seller responded promptly asking for a picture of the broken piece which I did. I received a replacement after one week no fuss. The blade was clean no grease. Highly recommended product.

A great value
In order to cut the binding off of books for scanning, I have needed a stack cutter for a long time, but couldn't afford one. I took a chance on this, thinking that the price made it a low risk purchase, but because of the low price I also had low expectations. Wow! Was I suprised at how well this worked. I've cut the binding off of three books to scan them, one was over 400 pages, and it cuts through the stacks easily and precisely. This exceeds my expectations in every way. The "clamp" holds papers in place well and is easily tightens down with the substantial "wings" that give you plenty of leverage.

Works for cutting books
I bought this paper cutter to cut the spines off of books so that I can scan them. It works pretty well, but it does take some practice.First of all, clean it up when you get it. Mine had some red greasy substance on different parts of it. The grease is also on the blade so you have to be very careful cleaning that. But thoroughly clean all parts before using or you will have a grease spot on your paper! Also, the blade starts cutting at the point furthest away from you and comes forward. That means that it does move the paper somewhat, even if you have the paper holder down and tight.I have so many books and so I decided to start scanning them. I cut off the covers with a box cutter, and then I use this paper cutter to cut the spine off. You have to very careful because some books, like mass-market paperbacks, do not have big margins so there is smaller room for error! When I have thick books, I usually split the book into two or three parts before using this cutter to cut off the spine. I just take the box cutter and open the book to where I want to split it, and then I slice the spine by starting at the top and cutting straight down. It is very easy and will make your cuts with this paper cutter easier.I then use my Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 to scan my books! It's awesome. One more thing....it's great with older books. If I want an older book, I can usually find it cheap on Amazon, and it it's Amazon Prime, even better! I have bought so many books for about $3.00 and then scanned them it! Then I can read it on my Kindle or my iPad or computer.

Far better than I expected
I was a little hesitant to order this, since there were some negative comments about it, but it works much more easily than I expected. There's a YouTube video of someone using one of these (it seems to be this brand and model) and the user struggles mightily with it, so we expected to have to apply much more force to cut through a stack of paper, but that didn't turn out to be the case.Ours arrived with a slightly cracked safety shield, but it's only a cosmetic issue. The shield is fully functional. This is a great bargain compared to other paper cutters of this size and capacity.Update: I managed to break one of its bearings by abusing it. Bouncing with my full weight on the handle to cut through an oddly tough stack of paper is just a bit more than it was designed for. (Paper varies a great deal in its resistance to being cut. Only one large stack of over one thousand stacks I've cut gave me this much trouble. I should have divided it into smaller stacks.) Fortunately, Amazon carries the bearing (
