Cuts Stacks of Paper Like Butter
Bought thermal binding glue strips for binding my own paperback volumes. My books are only about 40/50 pages, so it only takes 1/4 of one of these strips (cut long-ways with a utility knife) to bind a book. In fact, they are a tiny bit longer than my books are tall, so I can put together the ends I trim off to make a 5th book out of a single strip. That ends up being about $0.20/book for glue. Not bad!I am using 11x17 cover stock parchment (printed on an Epson WF7610) to print the covers, and a Fellowes thermal binder to bind them. Don't make the mistake of trying to print covers for an 8x10 book on a smaller printer, and make sure the printer can print on thick stock. Make sure the glue strips don't leak out the ends of the book spine, or it will mess up your thermal binder. I use the top of a butter knife (you can buy a folding bone if you want to spend money) to score the edges of the spine to get a sharp, straight edge. Finally, use a stack paper cutter to trim the edges of the books so they have that clean-cut, professional look.

Big, heavy-duty paper cutter
This is one heavy-duty paper cutter, much more than I was expecting. But, I'm completely happy with it. It works well for whatever job I've done. But if you're looking for something portable, look elsewhere.

Paper cutter for photos
This guillotine paper cutter met my expectations. It does an excellent job on heavy photo stock. I make note cards and other sorts of photo products and am happy with this cotter.

Pretty good cutter
This cutter mostly gets the job done. There were some quality issues such as the cutting blade not hitting the stop bar evenly at the bottom of the stroke which I fixed in about 2 hours. Also the stop bar was jammed in because it was a little too long instead of being held by the two thumb screws underneath. I fixed this as well. The instructions are bizzare and unusable. The intent was to tell you how the stop bar, red plastic, may be rotated or flipped end for end in order to give you a nice new cutting surface when the blade groove has become too deep and cuts the last page poorly. I figured the guy that had to assemble this just couldnt do the job well in the 27 seconds he was given. I like this cutter and since I've set it up right I like it a lot more. Good luck with yours.

Works well, but received slightly damaged from the vendor.
The product was slightly damaged when received (a corner of the metal base was bent in, but it does not affect the operation of the cutter. It easily cuts through thick stacks of laminated paper. It is hard to see where the paper is going to be cut exactly, but I marked on the red tape with a permanent marker so I can better judge how to align the paper.

Pretty good cutter if you are willing to handle and maintain it
Purchased this paper cutter after lingering for a long time and going over all other available for the same purpose. The prior review for this item made me choose this item. As for my rating, I am giving it a 4 star only for the fact that the quality check on this item is not immaculate - apart from that, it does everything that a good paper cutter is expected to do.The machine is easy to set up, if unsure check on youtube videos. I trimmed all my paperbacks with the cutter, at times I trimmed less than a millimeter from the sides. And it does the job perfectly. I have seen printing press trimming books from my childhood and I know the tricks of making a clean cut - like placing a thick cardstock at the bottom, holding the papers really tight while cutting etc. But that does not take away any credit from this cutter, its a heavy sturdy machine with a very optimal price. My machine's handle lock came bent, and that's why I said that this machine is not properly quality checked before packaging. But that is not a reason to return the product. I used a screwdriver to straighten it out and that fixed it. Also, I noticed that the blade alignment has gotten a little angled after 7 days of cutting. Not too worried about that because if you are handling this kind of machine you are expected to know how to set these things right - it will be a recurring thing. One thing to make sure is that the back support should not be tightened or loosened too much as it will break it. After handling it a few times I realized that it is something that just needs some optimal tightening and loosening. The marking on the scale are pretty accurate.
