How far does the white chain hang from the top ? If the hoist is mounted higher (let's say 20') can a person reach the white chain to drive the hoist?
Mine is hung at 14 feet and the loop chain (the chain that I pull on to raise/lower the hook) just touches the floor.

We used it to hoist a kiln over it's stand. But we cannot get it to release down. The kiln is stuck hovering in the air. How do we release it???
The chain links are stuck on the top end of the spool. With both hands on the chain ends slowly go the opposite way from when it got stuck. Once you see wherethe link(s) are bunched up, gently shake the chain where the kink is at until you see it come lose and slowly and gently continue to raise or lower. This usual…

Once you see wherethe link(s) are bunched up, gently shake the chain where the kink is at until you see it come lose and slowly and gently continue to raise or lower. This usually happens when the chain is pulled up or down too quickly. Can't treat it roughly. For the price and the job it needs to do it's an awesome value. If you have forced the chain and jammed it severly, it will be harder to undo. Either way, keep the links from bunching up by working at a slower to moderate pace. It should work if you are patient using once you get it to work again. Slow down. No hurries should bring you no worries. Good luck. RS

If the lift is working properly just pull the drive chain in the opposite direction to lower it. The lift is self holding and will not lower by itself alone.

0 distance, the hooks will be about 8-10 inchs apart at full lift hight.
