Will the pump get damaged when the water source (say a tank) runs dry? One will rush to switch off the pump. But what does Vevor recommend?

When the water source dries up, the water pump must be turned off immediately, otherwise the mechanical seal of the water pump will dry-grind and burn, and the water pump will be seriously damaged.

Do i need to prim this pump before it pumps. I'm not using this on an enclosed system

I primed mine the first time. Then it seems to retain water in it, enough to get it going thereafter.
