These lights require a transformer. You are able to program the transform to turn on the lights at different times. Some transformers have a photocell and will turn on the lights dusk to dawn.

You need to buy a power supply for them. If you get a decent one, it will have the ability to come on at a certain time, or dusk, and go off whenever you want them to.
I think the power supply I bought was about $75, and it’s well worth the money.
