Dear Customer, Thanks for your inquiry. It can be used on underground pipes, but only on the outside of the pipe, not inside. Please use insulation material to wrap the heating cable for heat preservation, but do not wrap the thermostat. The thermostat should be placed on the pipe, and the insulation material is recommended to be prefabricated foam or glass fiber material.
