All I known is. This machine makes cleaning out the sewer drain much easier. It feeds the snack into the drain and it also retracts the snake. Money well spend

It will run in either direction depending on where the motor reversing switch is set.
One way extends the cable into the drain to be cleaned the other way retracts the cable back into the drum. I never paid attention to weather which rotation was which, just that the cable extended with the switch one way and retracted with the switch the opposite way. The machine worked great for me and no more trips to the rental store. It's a keeper for me.

I does go counter clockwise (like the arrow shows). Going the other way would unwind the cable and damage it.
