what is the resolution of the degree angle?. Am I guessing the position between 1 Degree marks?

Just how does the compensator lock work? Does that chrome button get depressed while in the case?

It is the function of self-test. When using the machine, press it and then watch the compensator return to its position. It is normal. Put it in the box and it won't get depressed.
