I have this over my wood table and it is doing fine so far. There is no damage to my table top. I wanted something to protect the look of my wood table and this is perfect.

I have a checkerboard style wood top table, it has a beautiful checkerboard two tone wood style. I have this on my table and so far nothing has happened. I have had it on for about 6+ months now.

I use this without a tablecloth on the countertop in the kitchen. It's a convenient thing, but there is a minus, since it is a soft polymer it reacts to temperature, you can't put hot things on it, and also from time to time condensation forms under it and it is tedious to wipe or air it out.

Yes, it can be directly on the table, and of course it is not damaging the wood finish.

It wouldn’t damage the wood itself. However if moisture gets between the table and plastic it will be trapped and that could definitely cause an issue.

I’ve placed it directly on top of my wood table (I love the color/grain of the wood, and there hasn’t been any damage to the table. I believe people use a table cloth underneath for the decorative aesthetics. A tablecloth on top may slide off, so they place it underneath.

Mine is directly on the wood. I think if it is very humid where you are, maybe that would be an issue, but it doesn't form a seal on the surface.

You certainly can. But, in general, I don’t recommend this product as the ripples are impossible to straighten out. I threw it out.

Mine didn’t work because it slides off with a tablecloth under it. I have the tablecloth on top and it works very well.

The ripples cannot be removed. This item was a complete waste of money. I am going to replace it with a piece of Joanne Fabric’s heaviest plastic.

I just left the cover overnight with a book in each corner pressing it against the table to avoid the ripples

I do everything on top of the cover that l did before l installed it, no problems.

No it is not too soft. It’s plastic, not padded.

It’s pretty thick. I’ve written notes on this cover using pen and pencil. My mouse works well on it too leaving no marks or indentations. I wouldn’t press hard on the surface using anything sharp though.

You could write on a piece of paper on top of this plastic cover but I wouldn’t recommend buying it in general. The wrinkles never came out. It looks ridiculous. Don’t waste your money.

It’s soft but not squishy so you can write on it.
