Any reason I couldn't set this up on an acre pond?
This unit is specially designed for above-ground swimming pools only. It has limited flow and filtration capacity. An acre pond has a much larger water volume and heavier dirt load. This filter system cannot provide effective circulation and filtration, and it is easy to clog or burn out. It is not recommended for pond use.

Do I need to remove the balls and add sand?
A major benefit of keeping the balls is that they can be removed and machine-washed in a laundry bag when they become heavily soiled, extending their lifespan. Note: If you choose to use sand, ensure you use the "Backwash" setting on the 6-way valve regularly, a process that is much less frequent when using the filter balls. if this answer does not resolve the current issue, please contact us again for assistance.

No, you do not need to remove the filter balls; this "FlashPure" model is specifically optimized to use the included lightweight media instead of traditional sand. The filter balls provide much higher surface area and finer filtration (down to 3 microns) compared to sand, which typically only filters down to 20–40 microns. If you prefer to switch to sand, you must thoroughly clean the tank and replace the balls with approximately 110 lbs of #20 silica sand.

Is the 14 inch compatible with a pool that holds 10,000 gallons?
Using the 14-inch version instead of the 16-inch will save on energy costs while still providing more than enough power to keep a 10,000-gallon pool clear. Make sure your pool's hose diameter matches the pump's 1.25" or 1.5" fittings, as above-ground pools often vary by brand.

Yes, the 14-inch model is compatible and well-suited for a 10,000-gallon pool. It typically features a flow rate of around 3,000 to 3,500 GPH, which allows it to circulate the entire 10,000 gallons roughly every 3 hours. For a pool of this size, you generally want to turn over the water twice per day, meaning this pump only needs to run for about 6 to 8 hours daily.

To backwash, the manual says set valve to 'backwash', drain filter completely, start pump and backwash for 3-5 minutes...Does that mean open the small drain hole to let the water completely out or, just set valve to backwash, turn on pump and run in backwash mode for 3-5 minutes and then run rinse mode for 30 seconds?
No, you do not need to open the small drain hole.

Can I use this system for a 10x20 inground pool
Yes, this system can be used with a 10×20 inground pool, as long as the pool’s total water volume and plumbing setup are within the pump’s rated capacity.
