I am getting a leak out of the clear top of the filter basket. It is closed as tight as I can get it. I have inspected the o-ring seal. Does the L-shaped part of the O-ring face up or down? Any other suggestions?

Dear customer, The L-shaped/flat side of the O-ring faces UP toward the clear lid; the rounded side sits DOWN in the groove. To fix the leak: Lubricate the O-ring with pool-safe silicone lube. Clean the groove and lid sealing surface completely. Hand-tighten only—do not overtighten. Replace the O-ring if it’s cracked, deformed, or dry.

If I choose not to use the cotton balls and one of these silica sand number 20 how much do I use in the bottle that I have which is a 16-in and is this even doable
