Can I use this to back up my main sump pump and use the same battery for a battery back up pump if my main pump fails?

Yes, but your backup pump must be turned off normally. If it breaks down, you need to turn it on manually, otherwise both pumps will work at the same time. Our inverter works with AC power first. If there is a problem with the AC power, it will switch to battery power instead of switching output.
