Can you buy the fence for the miter gauge separately?

I don't believe so as these items came in the same package box. Ideally, you want these two pieces to work seamlessly together. Its been a nice addition to my new Kobalt ($264).

Will this work on a table saw that only has about 4" from the inside of the miter slot to the inside of the blade?
