They work just fine as long as you keep the threads lubed and use them correctly. Don’t get in a rush.

Are the dies externally hex shaped? Its looks like they are in some of the pictures but in other pictures they look round...thanks

They are hexagonal.

Will the set go up to one inch? I am not super handy and woth the info provided I couldn't determine if it had a tap / die for 1in.

The Tap and Die Set does not have a 1-inch tap/die.
