This unit is designed for outdoor installation, and a full all-around protective cover is not mandatory officially. However, a rain cap for the exhaust flue is a must. Only a top shelter cannot fully block rain from sides and front. Even if the unit only gets indirect rain exposure, it is not recommended to install it without any weather protection, as long-term moisture may cause rust and damage electrical components. A ventilated full weather cover is suggested for longer service life.
