my driveway is about 14.5' W so could I order a double gate (12') + Single gate (6.5') to connect those together, or would it compromise the security of the gate if the double gate is not attached to the wall on both sides?

How is this secure if you screw it in with the screws facing out? Couldn't someone just unscrew it?
