The door (with wheels) when stowed, has over 3" ground clearance. Deployed, the web expands and rises another 2+". About 5.5" clearance overall. The gate is heavy enough that without the wheels it would sag, possibly scraping the floor and making matching the lock latch challenging. As it, with the wheels on the gate, a child could deploy/stow the gate with minimal effort. As it, this is a very good and balanced design.
