what is the tiny tube taped to the larger pipe inside the filter for? there is no mention of this tube in the instrtuction manual.

The recomended pipe size is 1 1/2" but only 1/2" of the fittings fits. Standard 11/2" pipe fittings are 11/2" of glue space. Thissize is for high pressure. Do i need to buy U.S. made fitting
