How many amps does this saw draw?
That is difficult at best when looking at their numbers. I would have to put a meter on it for a true number. When doing the math, it does not make any sense as the formula : 2800 watts ÷ 120 volts amps = 23.33 amps. That would blow my 20 amp breaker which it does not do. When doing the math, it does not make any sense as the formula : 2800 watts ÷ 120 volts amps = 23.33 amps. That would blow my 20 amp breaker which it does not do. It does have a soft start feature which aids in the startup amperage being reduced. When looking at other chop saw numbers for composite blades, they claim numbers such as 5HP at 120 volts and 15 amp. Another was 3.7HP at 15 amps. My guess would be this saw pulls between 12 and 15 amps. It has no issues running on a 30 foot 12 gauge extension cord in my experience. Sorry I can't be more specific but their numbers are what is making this a difficult question to answer. One more thing is they show it being a 240 volt saw when it is a120 volt saw. It would likely run on a 15 amp breaker due to the soft start feature but only with the appropriate gauge cord. Buy it, it's one of the best tools I have purchased and I have a 5 HP DeWalt table saw in the shop along with 9 inch hand held grinders, 2hp Skill Saws and a 5HP compressor. Just mentioned them so you know where I'm coming from. Best regards, Don. see less That is difficult at best when looking at their numbers. I would have to put a meter on it for a true number. I am using it on a 20A circuit and it has never tripped the breaker, but I never push it that hard. The soft start is a big help in reducing the initial current draw. In theory 2800W is ~23 amps, but that would be at maximum load.

Can you use regular steel cutting blades?
Yes, you can use standard 14-inch steel-cutting abrasive chop saw wheels, provided they match the arbor size and are rated for at least 3600 RPM.
