I use a half hitch knot. I like it because it is secure and comes untied rather easily. I use anchor chains to secure the bullies to trees and force a tree to fall in a manner it does not want to naturally. So we are talking about a lot of force on the knot. I have not had any problems using it.
I usually use a halfhitch knot. It gets tighter with pressure but is still easy to undo. If it's the right knot or not I could not say. But it works for me and I am felling trees in a direction they do not want go naturally.
