High heat is 9 or 1
The 9th gear is the highest, but the power of each gear of the electric ceramic stove is the same. The difference between 9th gear and 1st gear is that the time when the stove ring (red part) lights up and goes out is different to distinguish them.

The large burner does not get as hot as expected, depending on the material of your pan. The "manual" (or pamphlet) says not to use aluminum on any burner, but I do use aluminum for things like making rice, or boiling things. I suggest to never use aluminum to fry, I think it gets too hot and may stick evidence of molten metal to the stovetop. I've found that good quality heavy skillets like Cuisineart or cast iron work very well. Just be careful to watch the temperature because once they're hot, the burner's surface stays hot for a while. I love ours, we are very careful not to scratch and have had ours for about a year with no surface blemishes anywhere. Hope this helps. see less First, this is a very nice stovetop that works very well overall and it does heat up quickly and evenly.
