There is an app you download that will allow you to “try” to set it to 16 AMP but that has to be on a 20 AMP circuit. It could sense when I was on the 15 AMP with an extension cord and would set down to 12. The cord was 14 gauge wire and was getting warm at that rate. Installed a 20 amp circuit and outlet with 12 gauge and it would run at 16 amp no problems. Until it stopped working. I now have a 240 v at 40 amp runs at 32 amp and charges the wife’s minivan battery in 1 hour. It’s a hybrid so the battery is only for about 32-34 miles but great for school and soccer mom runs. I could not get it to work at 16A on 120V no matter what I did with the buttons. I ended up returning it.

I haven’t used yet is my spare one but I did a research and they recommended to upgrade from 16A to 20A electric panel fuse

I use the accompanying app -- not the buttons on the unit itself. The button on the unit doesn't give you a clear indication on the AMP setting. On the app, I set it for 13 amp to leave a safety margin on the circuit that has a 15 amp fuse (I could also use a 20 A fuse but choose not to do that). The fuse doesn't blow and charging is smooth but lengthy. To be clear, I have it on a 120V service and don't plan to spend the hundrerds of dollars for me to upgrade. Our power panel is on the far opposite side of the house and running a line either tacked to the house or underground is a costly project. So 120 it is.

There IS no button…. 16A at 120 or 240vac.
You can not change the charge draw or the rate of charge.
