With the regular kit, the legs are each joined with a coupler to make two short legs into one full sized leg. The regular kit only supplies four couplers, so you would not have what you need to extend the four legs beyond the specified full height.

Not unless you can buy an additional set of joining plates, the set only comes with 4 (1 for each column). Your second set of shelves with come with 4 more but you still need an additional 4 build one on top of another.
Also, if you do that, you need to secure it to the wall. It may not be rigid enough to free stand.

I don't think so because the bottom shelf would be right next to the top shelf without a space. That bottom shelf and top shelf keeps the whole thing rigid. There is a joiner that goes between the second and third shelf and you would need 4 of those to build it higher. I think there are other types that are taller than this type so you might look for those instead. I bought another set that is taller and the shelves are wider so I will have additional shelves.

Mine are doubled up, so I have one on top of the bottom one. I believe mine are 72 inches tall combined. I do believe they have different sizes.

On this 5-shelf unit, the side rails are a fixed height, around 30" or half the size of the unit. So you could combine, but you would have to add height in 30" increments.

Would have been better if you purchased the 72" (6') tall one. You could probably stack half of one on top. Anything higher you risk it toppling over.
