Can the base plates be mounted on a downward sloping concrete "stringer" beside the steps rather than on the steps themselves? My staircase width is narrow and I don't want to restrict it further.

Question #1 says to drill hole using an M10*70 drill bit. This can't be right. Review #1 by "Chief" says it takes a 5/8" bit. What size drill bit do I really need ?
