The tool does not say. So, the short answer would be no. I used it with slow turning until the grip was firm. Then, increasing the leverage as necessary until the fastener opened. Impact would easily nullify the firm grip the tool would be attempting at the beginning of its use. There is also the possibility of the tool shaving off the fastener making it less prone to a firm grip, or breaking causing damage to the workpiece or injury.
