We ran it it continually daily for at least 8 hrs. We replace it completely within the year - My experience was it was not what I expected at all from a commercial grade toaster. NOT reliable or built for extended use.

Yes, the toasting level can be adjusted. The product description states it has dual knob controls, one of which adjusts the toasting depth with 7 settings to customize the darkness of the toast.
