The pump handle does take a little bit of muscle but is not bad. We use this to fill bottles of lotion, shampoo etc and it made such a difference that we purchased a 2nd one.
Yes it is put together well. This is my second one. I think the only thing you really have to worry about is the cleaning of the inside. You have to make sure that it is dry after you clean.
