I'm cofused on power requirements, do i need batteries for the opener to work or just for backup, does it come with 24v transformer, what do i havevto purchase separately for bare minimum operation.

This machine is 110v AC direct power supply. There is a 24v transformer in the control box. Solar panel + your own 24V 7.2AH/12AH lead-acid battery can only be used as a backup power supply. The main power supply is still the domestic power. You need to provide your own power cord.

MyThe wiring that comes with each actuator is very short. My dual swing gate is 18 feet length total (9 feet each leaf). If I install the control box near the left gate/leaf with the left actuator, do I need to run an extra wire from the right gate/leaf and right actuator across the entire 18 feet length of the gate to reach the control box? If so, how do I buy the extra wire?

It has an extension cord that can connect the longer arm on the other side to the control panel.
