is this pump brushless?

This pump is not brushless, it is an AC induction motor with an electronic switch

I only get down to maybe 15000 microns direct to gauge. small wifts of oil mist out. is there a breakin peruod? faulty unit?

Mine is much better - maybe 15 microns. I suspect you have a huge leak.
