Where do you position the “wrench” when using the RC-2005Q in order to lock the cable (preventing it from extending or retracting) in order to spin it in place? It looks like you push the wrench all the way forward and down (away from the handle) to release the cable to hand feed it in and out. Then it looks like you pull it back and up in order to engage the automatic feeding capability. Where should the wrench be once you reach the blockage? Are there more than two positions for the wrench?
When the wrench is in a parallel state, the spring cannot automatically feed or retract; when the wrench is in a vertical state, the spring can achieve the working principle of automatically feeding or retracting.

Are there markings on the cable to tell you how far down you have gone ?
no markings on the cable unless you spray paint them yourself. i recommend every 3 feet or which ever you prefer.....

While manual version costs more than the auto feed version, wonder if manual version is any better?
Don't understand what it is that you're asking. Bought this item because it has a slow speed drill built into it and a heavy metal casing that houses the snake. Have only needed to use it once, but due the adequate snake length and constant power (turning) of the drill, moved the blockage quickly and effortlessly. Better than calling and paying a Plumber to do virtually the same thing. Was well worth the outlay, in my opinion, and it's there if another blockage occurs.

what is the diameter for the rod?
For Drain Auger, the diameter of the spring is between 6.2mm and 6.3mm.

What's the difference between manual and auto feed versions? Both can be used with a drill, it looks like?
Both models can be connected to an electric drill, the main difference is: the wire spring of the automatic feeding type can be automatically in and out, and the other type needs to manually in and out of the steel wire.
