No, it does not need to be manually primed. The pump has a self-priming function.

Are adapters needed for Fitment to NPT threads and sizes ?
Yes, adapters are required for NPT thread fitment.
This pump uses BSPT threads (inlet 1″ BSPT, outlet 3/4″ BSPT), not NPT.
BSPT and NPT are not compatible directly. You need BSPT to NPT adapters for a proper, leak‑free connection.
