Is there an adapter that can be purchased separately to mount this to an electrical box? The way this comes packaged means the material I mount to will be damaged with provided hardware.

It's made to hard wire, but you can add a male plug onto the other end of the wire and plug it in after you decide how long you need the wire to be.
