I understood by removing one or two steps the height of the ladder could be adjusted. How do I do that?

Dear customer, You can adjust the ladder height by removing the bottom steps: Fully unfold the ladder. Remove the rivets/bolts on the last 1 or 2 bottom steps. Take off the steps and refasten the structure. Remove 1 step → fits 8.7–9.2 ft ceilings. Remove 2 steps → fits 7.9–8.4 ft ceilings.

Once fully open with stairs extended from floor to ceiling, how much space from the wall is there from the bottom of the step. We have a cramped hall space so every inch counts.

When fully extended, the distance from the bottom step to the wall is 55.1–57.1 inches (landing length). This is the clear space you need in front of the wall for the ladder to fully open.
