They don't seem to be brittle at all. I have them on the floor of my unfinished basement and they are holding up well. They're even okay to walk on barefoot.

I've had mine down on the basement floor for a couple years and they are not brittle yet.
I don't know if they'd hold up if driven on but perfectly fine for walking on.

I would not consider them brittle. They have some flex and support plenty of weight. Cars and tool boxes sitting on top with no issues.

No they are not. I put it in my garage floor and cars are parked. So far so good

I got them to lock up tightly with each other by stepping on them hard with my feet and not one broke or chipped so I wouldn't consider them to be brittle at all. Hope that helps.
