Do the tracks overlap continuously? Would an 8 ft wide door be able to slide across the entire 16 ft long track?

For Sliding Barn Door Hardware Kit, the track cannot overlap, the length of the track should be twice the width of the door. Therefore, the maximum width of the door is 5.5 feet /167 cm, and a suitable door thickness is 1.37-1.77 inches /35-45 mm. At the same time, it is best to leave a gap of 6 inches /15 cm above the door.

How are the tracks joined? Some review pics show a plate and some don't have plates

The tracks are connected kinda like a puzzle peice. Then a mounting lag bolt locks the parts together. It's an awsome set up. I installed them to separate the new addition inside on the back of my garage. Definitely buy again if needed
