The way I do it, is after the trailer is on the pickup I take the pin out of the jack and lay the jack in back of the pickup. That's the easiest way and you never have to worry about the handle hitting the bumper.

Beings that it is a weld on, you could weld it on the outside of the frame, rather than the inside where it hits. Otherwise, you may want to get a different jack.

The handle is perfect size for your hand. Do not mount the jack where it will be to close to hit things when it swings down or when you turn the handle. Some times common sense isn’t common.
