The seat measures 16" across. l am a plus size woman (2X) with large hips, and it's fine even with the arms down, and I find it very sturdy.

You’d have to read the details to determine how high from the floor this chair will rise, and then measure your tub. I don’t think it will work well with a bear claw tub (mine), but a traditional one (my mom’s). I purchased it for my 90.5 year old mom.

Not unless you have a very even bathtub and set it on the higher settings. I tried with my bathtub, and it left one leg wobbly, whereas when it is fully in the tub or fully out of the tub it is perfectly stable.

This is not the one we bought, we got the chair that slides in and out of the tub, a little more expensive but very nice. The chair straddles the side of the tub.
