The machine operates on 92-octane gasoline and two-stroke engine oil, mixed at a ratio of 25:1. For the initial use, simply follow the 25:1 ratio; for subsequent uses, either a 25:1 or 40:1 ratio is acceptable.

To separate the pole sections, switch the engine off and allow the saw to cool, then loosen the locking knob/bolt at the pole joint and pull the sections apart. Re-tighten the lock when reassembling. Do not force the sections apart if they are stuck.
