Yes. They are not attached, you have to screw them on. If you are wanting it blank then I wouldn’t order this one bc it has predrilled holes to attach the shelves.

No. The nuts for mounting shelf are built in. I did turn the small shelf upside down to give a side on it. New holes could be drilled for the hook rod but this shelf is true stainless steel so is really hard to drill.

Well, we chose to install with the self and use the s hooks as well but you don’t have too. Let me tell you that the metal panel is heavy! Have help to hold up, have strong screws to hold up as well. We really like ours!

No. They are permanent. And the stainless is VERY hard. For example, the contractor/installer burned out multiple drill bits of various types to pierce it for our 'pot filler' faucet.

The shelf can be removed w/ a screwdriver.
The hooks just dangle like a shower curtain hook.
