You can convert both.. to connect PVC to the pump I use a 1-1/2 in. x 2 in. PVC Schedule 40 MPT x S Reducer Male Adapter to - 2in pipe and then used a Fernco 2 in. x 1-1/2 in. DWV Flexible PVC Coupling to convert the flexible hose coming from The above ground Pool (costco bestway pool)

This pump can be used with a DE filter. The output valve can be rotated to the side. However, this will cause the pump to lose it ability of self-priming. Vevor does not recommend changing the output valve location.

pump has nothing to do with filter system whether de or sand, you only have inlet from skimmer (front of pump housing) and the top outlet is (return back to the pool) you can use various fittings to adapt whatever, should not be an issue other than fitting sizes and using the proper fitting and pvc flex tubing, if in doubt take photo to your local pool company, they will set you up if items are required
