Well, yes and no. The screwdriver itself is not magnetic, in fact even without it the standard short hex bits are pretty hard to get back out usually as only the very tip sticks out. However, the extender that you should place into the driver is magnetic. Then you can put your short hex bits in and they will stay and protrude far enough to grab onto to remove. There are two ended hex bits and some longer ones around 1.5 to 2 inches long and those will stay in the driver better without the extender--I even have some 6 inch ones for electronics.
The magnetic extenders are available in numerous lengths as well, and some with sliding screw starters on them. Remember that not all magnets are made equal so while some will hold a screw on the bit, some are only strong enough to hold the bit in.
