It is on and off only. This is a very powerfull tool and not well suited for precision work. I found it to be a workhorse and the tool works well with the blade water supply.

Unfortunately, there is no RPM modulator within the trigger, however, once you pull the trigger on the saw to make a cut it stays at a steady RPM. Hope that was helpful information.
