Is it required to put the spacers in the center between the flanges??

The imagery makes it seem like the interior plate to plate distance maxes out at 4.33 inches. Is that correct, or is the 4.33" the max beam flange width. I am looking at specifying this product for a client on an aluminum I beam, USS8X8.81 with a 4.262 in flange.
